Is my battery flat?
Measure the voltage across the terminals with a multimeter after the battery has rested a few hours with no load, then set the slider to your reading.

Fully charged
Healthy and ready to go. If it still struggles to start the engine, bring it in for a load test.
Indicative for 12 V lead-acid, AGM and gel batteries. A voltage reading cannot show a battery’s health, so ask us to test it properly.

Six habits that add months to a battery’s life.
Keep terminals clean and tight
Corrosion and loose clamps cause hard starts that look like a weak battery.
Avoid only taking short trips
A very short drive may not give the alternator time to recharge what the engine used to start.
Switch everything off when you park
Lights, radios and chargers left on can drain a battery overnight.
Test the alternator if it keeps going flat
A weak charging system will flatten even a new battery. We can test both.
Fit it securely and keep it cool
Vibration and heat shorten battery life. Make sure the hold-down is tight.
Use the right type and charger
Starter batteries are made for short bursts. For solar and off-grid use, choose a deep-cycle gel battery and a compatible charger.
